Amid ongoing economic hardship in the country, a social critic and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has accused President Bola Tinubu of wanting to use hunger to kill Nigerians.
Yesufu alleged that the President wants people to reach the stage where they will sell their souls for a packet of noodles.
She made the allegation in a post on her X handle on Friday.
It has been reported that Nigeria’s inflation increased to 29.90 per cent in January 2024, from 28.92 per cent recorded in December 2023, amid rising food prices.
The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, which disclosed this on Thursday, noted that the figure is 0.98 percentage points higher compared to the 28.92 per cent recorded in December 2023.
However, the President yesterday unveiled plans to tackle factors responsible for the food crisis.
Barely 24 hours after, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, sealed Sahad Store, a popular supermarket in the Garki area of Abuja.
The Commission said preliminary investigation confirmed that the management of the supermarket was short-changing customers.
But, Yesufu has come out to question the attack on traders and sealing of warehouses.
She wrote: “Tinubu wants to use hunger to kill Nigerians. He wants people to reach the stage where they will sell their souls for a packet of noodles. How do you explain the attack on traders and sealing of warehouses?”
