On Wednesday (today), Sadiya Umar-Farouk, the former minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, is scheduled to appear before agents of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to be questioned on an alleged N37.1 billion fraud.
The incident coincides with the arrest of Halima Shehu, the National Social Investment Program Agency, by the EFCC on Tuesday for allegedly committing a N37.1 billion fraud in conjunction with Sadiya Umar-Farouk, the former minister.
According to reports, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave his approval for Halima Shehu’s suspension on Tuesday.
Giving insights into the arrest, an official of the EFCC who spoke under anonymity, said Shehu Shehu was indicted concerning the alleged 37.1bn fraud as the former National Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme under the Ministry, then supervised by Sadiya Umar-Farouq.
