Supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso on Wednesday took to the streets to protest over the sack of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf.
Men of the Nigeria Police Force shot tear gas canisters in a bid to disperse the protesters.
The protest follows the confusion that trailed the Appeal Court judgment sacking Yusuf from office.
Recall that the Appeal Court had sacked Yusuf on the premise that he was not a member of the NNPP during the last governorship election in the state.
The court had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasiru Gawuna, winner of the governorship election.
However, there was confusion over the judgment as the court asked concerned lawyers to return certified true copies of its judgment for corrections.
The certified true copies of the judgement indicated that the court upheld Yusuf’s victory.
