The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi has said that reports stating that his countetpart in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike worked against the candidacy of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi is untrue.
It has been reported that there have been allegations that Wike, after pledging his allegiance to Obi pulled the carpet under his feet and supported the presidential bid of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Reacting to the allegations at the commissioning of the remodeled Community Secondary school, in Obio-Akpor local government area on Monday, Umahi insisted that there was no truth to the claims.
According to him, Wike had supported Obi’s presidency.
He noted that out of all the choices presented to him, WIke chose the former Anambra governor.
Umahi said, “Let me correct the insinuations that governor Wike worked against Peter Obi, no, rather we commend him for standing with Peter Obi.
Governor Wike was presented with a number of options, people that they had penciled down, and out of all of them he chose his excellency, Peter Obi. And being very close to him regarding the first meeting, we said how come nobody from the southeast was invited and that was the point of our concern, but we all supported him in the choice of Peter Obi and we all worked for it.”
