Nigeria Immigration Sacks 8 Personnel, Redeploys 100 Others

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has sacked eight of its personnel from the service.

NIS also sanctioned eighteen others for various offences relating to indiscipline, employment racketeering and other forms of corrupt practices.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Kenneth Kure, a Chief Superintendent of Immigration at the Public Relations Unit, on behalf of the Comptroller General, Isah Idris.

The statement showed the decision was taken following the approval granted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), which noted that the conduct of the personnel has grossly remained unbecoming and unacceptable as members of the service.

Those affected in the action are the Chief Superintendent of Immigration who was ordered to go on compulsory retirement, while nine other personnel were demoted in rank.

“After exhaustive deliberations by the committees, eight personnel comprising one Chief Superintendent of Immigration (CSI), two Deputy Superintendents of Immigration (DSI), two Assistant Superintendents of Immigration II (ASI2) and three rank and file were summarily dismissed from the Service,” the statement read in part.

The agency further revealed that 100 of its personnel working at the MMIA in Lagos have been deployed out of the airport with immediate effect.
