The Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima has urged the north to use the 2023 presidential election as a payback for the party’s candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Wednesday during a visit to the Hausa community in Alaba-Rago, in Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), of Lagos State, Shettima recalled how Tinubu gave President Muhammadu Buhari bloc votes from the southwest in the 2015 and 2019 elections.
He said as honourable people, what is expected from the north is that their votes should also go to Tinubu who is seeking the presidency in 2023.
In his words, ”We are people of honour, we should honour our pledge and promise. This is payback time for the north to support Tinubu.”
News360 info reports Shettima was accompanied on the visit by the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje as well as his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and some other party leaders.
Speaking at the occasion, Ganduje also solicited the votes of the northerners for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
He described Tinubu as a real nationalist who gave appointments to non-Yoruba indigenes when he was the Lagos State Governor.
“The issue of Tinubu is concluded.
Kano State wants votes from you for Tinubu. You have to promise us you will surpass Kano in your votes for Tinubu,” Ganduje appealed.
On his part, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the residents of the area not to be deceived by any other party, but to cast all their votes for the APC.
