Wike: Atiku who can’t unite PDP shouldn’t be President – Tinubu’s running mate, Shettima

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential running mate, Kashim Shettima has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar should not aspire to be president.

Shettima said Atiku who can’t unite the PDP should not aspire to be president of Nigeria.

He spoke during the unveiling of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu’s manifesto, on Friday, in Abuja.

Shettima charged Atiku to reconcile aggrieved PDP members first before running for the presidency.

He said: “Atiku Abubakar, who could not put his own political house in order, cannot aspire to lead Nigeria.

Unfortunately, the leading opposition party set out to exploit the nation’s rotational arrangement and refused to read the national mood. And this has long backfired, and turned their presidential dream into a televised national circus.

His comment is coming when PDP is enmeshed in leadership crisis.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been at loggerheads with PDP’s leadership since Atiku emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.

While Wike accepted Atiku as the party’s flagbearer, he, however, called for the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as PDP’s National Chairman.

Leading some State governors, Wike said Ayu and Atiku, who come from the same region, represent injustice.
