A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has revealed why some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) returned the money sent for their housing allowance.
News360 info had earlier reported that some members of the PDP NWC returned the money forwarded to their account by the party leadership.
The NWC member who spoke with Daily Independent on condition of anonymity said the NWC members returned the money based on the instruction of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
He claimed that Governor Wike has the intention to bring the PDP down having lost out in the presidential and vice presidential races.
The NWC member said, “If you look at what happened during the time they were plotting to remove Secondus, you will realise it is the same thing that is playing out now. Then, it was reported that some NWC members were given money to pass a vote of no confidence on Secondus. That is the same thing that is happening now.”
The PDP official said Wike and his loyalists after failing their mission to remove the national leader of the party, Iyorchia Ayu decided to return the money to create the impression that the party is corrupt.
He added, “Even look at the statement issued by Arapaja. He claimed that after a newspaper reported they were bribed to keep quiet over misappropriation of N15 billion, he browsed through his various alerts, and he discovered a transfer of N36,000,000.00 from the party.”
He wondered if Arapaja’s net worth is huge and that he will not know that money entered his account until a newspaper published the report.
The NWC member asked if Arapaja takes Nigerians for a fool following his statement.
He concluded, “They were all aware of the money and get higher returns from those who want Ayu out at all cost. But some disgruntled people asked them to return it to embarrass the party and present it to Nigerians as a corrupt party.”
