APC Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Northern Christians Are Not Minority – Morgan Drops Statistics

A Christian leader from the northern part of the country, AVM Monday Morgan (rtd) has countered the narrative in some quarters that Christians are a minority in the north.

Speaking against the backdrop of the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential election, he argued that the party may regret its action which he described as cocky and aloof.

Morgan made his mind known on Tuesday during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today in which he submitted that Christians are no push aside when it comes to their voting power.

According to him, in Adamawa State Christians are not below 80%, in Taraba State, Christians are not below 75%, in Plateau State Christians are not below 85%.

He added that in Benue State Christians are not below 90%, in Kogi State we speak 50-50 and In Kwara, we can say Muslim 60%, Christians 40%.

Morgan stated that though he doesn’t have the statistics for Kano, Kaduna state is like 40-60.

In his words, “Let me tell you something; from the tendency of the APC right now there is this cocky and aloofness. I watched the interview of Hakeem Baba-Ahmad on Sunday and I could see the bluff of the APC spokesman when the spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum said they are going to present their own bargaining chips to the parties and they will discuss. It’s not business as usual. These are guys determined and directed to do whatever they want to do.

“No, Christians are not a minority in the North. I can give you example. In Adamawa State Christians are not below 80%. In Taraba State, Christians are not below 75%. In Plateau State Christians are not below 85%. In Benue State Christians are not below 90%. In Kogi State we speak 50-50. In Kwara we can say Muslim 60%, Christians 40%. In Borno State, we can say 60-40. I cannot give you the statistics of Kano State; but in Kaduna you can say 40-60. What I am saying is that in the whole of the north central and north west you cannot pull us by the side.”
