President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19.
Biden was said to have experienced very mild symptoms of the dreaded disease earlier and was confirmed positive after a test.
The development made the incumbent leader the second U.S. president to get the virus and underscored the extent to which the virus has infiltrated American society.
While lifestyle and daily routines were about to return to normalcy in the U.S, new variants surfaced, raising concerns among the citizens and foreigners.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Biden was experiencing “mild symptoms” and has begun taking Paxlovid, an antiviral drug designed to reduce the severity of the disease.
According to her, the president “will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence.”
News360 Info understands that the 79-year-old leader is fully vaccinated.
After getting two doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine shortly before taking office, a first booster shot was admitted to Biden in September and an additional dose on March 30.
