The Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, on Friday night, stated that Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, would pay for the cost of the demolition of his church.
According to Soludo, affected house owners were notified about the need for them to remove their structures marked for demolition within a timeframe.
The Governor accused Odumeje of trying to take over the equipment government officials were using for the demolition on Thursday.
Soludo further stated that Odumeje ignored the directives of the state government despite his attendance in meetings held due to the plan to demolish buildings.
He said, “It is costing us money. They had several notices to remove such structures, but they refused.
“The demolition started yesterday (Thursday), and so far so good. The demolition went well, except for Pastor Odumeje, who according to the report drove in, brazenly and attempted to take over the equipment.
“Of course, state work must go on, and security had to stop him. This was a man who was in several meetings we had and also spoke.
“This is costing us money, and the structures should have been removed before now, but they chose to test the resolve of the government.
“Once we are done with this exercise, we will compile the bills and send them to the persons involved, and they must pay.”
