The Chicago State University has explained why it is unable to give clarification on the primary and secondary schools attended by the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
A spokeswoman for Chicago State University, Lauren Finch, said Tinubu’s academic records are covered by American privacy regulations.
In an email to Peoples Gazette, the Chicago State University confirmed Tinubu as a former student, graduating with a degree in business and administration on June 22, 1979.
It reads: “We have checked with our legal department and we cannot give you more than the information we have already provided.”
Mr Tinubu attended our school and graduated on June 22, 1979. We can only say when he came in and when he graduated.”
News360 info had recalled that the former Lagos State Governor had claimed that unknown persons stole his school certificates during the military rule in 1990.
Tinubu stated this in an affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of his eligibility filings for the 2023 presidential elections.
It was gathered that documents released last Friday by the electoral umpire showed that Tinubu left the columns for his primary and secondary education unmarked.
Tinubu, however, noted that he obtained a degree in business and administration in 1979 at the Chicago State University.
