Tobi Amusan Sets New African Women’s Hurdles Record [Video]

Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan has set a new African record in the women’s 100 metre hurdles in 12.41s at the Diamond League meet in Paris.
The Nigerian is only behind Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn at 12.37s and Alaysha Johnson of the US with 12.40s

She was a second faster than she was in the September 2021 Diamond League final where she broke Gloria Alozie’s 23-year-old national and continental record.

Amusan, 25, continued her stellar showing in the season on the tracks at the Charléty Stadium on Saturday. At the recently-ended African Athletics Championship in Mauritius, the got two gold medals in women’s hurdles and 4×100 meter relay.

In Paris, she beat Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton (12.63s) while Great Britain’s Cindy Sember came in 12.73s to emerge as the third best run of the season.

She will be aiming for a podium finish at the World Athletics Championship in Oregon, US, in July as well as the Commonwealth Games billed for July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, England.

Amusan is also expected to be back home for the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) national trials between June 21 and 23 in Benin city, Edo State.
