Bandits Attack Zamfara Village Kill Monarch and 19 Others

Bandit terrorists have killed the village head and nineteen residents of Ganar-Kiyawa village of Adabka District, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The gunmen stormed the community on Sunday morning at about 8:30 am and started shooting sporadically at the villagers.

A resident of the area told Channels Television that the terrorists looted houses, shops and stole some valuables during the attack.

He said residents of the village have been sleeping in the bush for the fear of being attacked by the bandits in their homes.

The resident disclosed that the gunmen also invaded neigbouring villages, adding that bandits have been attacking communities under Adabka ward on a daily basis.

“Today’s (Sunday) attack was a major one; they have been coming almost on daily basis to abduct people, major women, and children,” he said.

The resident claimed that the security agencies are not enough to secure all the villages around, adding that the military was only stationed at Adabka and Gwashi town.

He asserted that the lack of security presence in other villages means residents of those places are vulnerable to bandits’ attacks.

“The security agencies are not enough to mount all the villages around. We only have a military presence in two major places, Adabka town, and Gwashi.

“All other villages around are left uncovered by the security agencies so these people (bandits) can just go out anytime they wish to and attack people,” he disclosed.
