Delta State Police Command has confirmed that one person was shot dead as savagery ejected in the Ughelli Kingdom in Delta State as the local area notices its yearly celebration.
A correspondent from The PUNCH reported that several people sustained varying degrees of injuries in the violence that erupted in the Ekiugbo and Oto-Iwhreko communities on Thursday evening when some irate youths in the area reportedly resumed fresh hostilities, causing pandemonium in the territory.
While confirming the incident to writers, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, demanded that it was one individual that was killed and not two as being widely rumored by locals.
The main cause of the fracas that led to the violent shooting of rival communal youths was sketchy, but sources said it could be a premeditated attack.
Our correspondent gathered that the two neighboring communities of Ekiugbo and Oto-Iwhreko in Ughelli kingdom had previously engaged in communal war.
