Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1-0 on Saturday in an all-English Champions League final in Porto to win the competition for the second time.
Havertz ran onto a magnificent pass from Mason Mount to grab the winner for Chelsea on 42 minutes with his first European goal for the club after a difficult first season.
In a totally dominating display by the Blues, Chelsea showed more quality on and off the ball, showed more pace, panache and perseverance as they inflicted a third straight win this season on Pep Guardiola’s team.
Timo Werner wasting two good chances before Havertz struck and substitute Christian Pulisic squandering another in the second half.
This is the second time the Blues are winning the trophy, after they lifted it in 2012, when they beat Bayern Munich on penalties.
It is, however, the first time Thomas Tuchel is winning it, after he lost last year’s final to Bayern
