Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu has denied commenting on the choice of Ghana as Twitter’s headquarters for its Africa operations.
Several media outlets (not Qed. ng) quoted Mr. Shehu as knocking Twitter for its decision made public by the tech company’s CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday.
But Shehu said in a tweet on Tuesday that he did not make any comment on the matter.
While Shehu did not speak on the matter, presidential aide Tolu Ogunlesi downplayed the development, saying Facebook had also announced that it would be opening an office in Lagos.
“Ghana got Twitter, Nigeria got Facebook (operational H2 2021). God be praised. Let’s be happy for each other. Not everything is a fight, dears. Ghana, congratulations,” he tweeted.

I did not comment on the Twitter choice of Ghana as their Africa base. There are many who have the same names with me. It will be mistaken of anyone to attribute a quote to me or even the Presidency that my verified handles did not bear.
