Infant, 3 Family Members, 2 Others Die As Bandits Open Fire On Motorists Along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road
Six people including an infant and three members of a family have died in a ghastly accident that occurred when bandits opened fire on vehicles along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, said the bandits, who were on the run from aggressive patrols by security agencies in the Birnin Gwari general area, took to the highway around Ungwan Dangedda and as they retreated, shot at several vehicles.
“The driver of one commercial vehicle was hit, and lost control of the vehicle, which somersaulted several times before coming to a stop. The bandits then fled the location,” said Aruwan.
Six persons died on the spot from the crash. They have been identified as Abdurrashid Ya’u, Sa’idu Ya’u, Ramatu Ya’u, and an unidentified infant. Others are Suwaiba Ali, Sulaiman Ustaz.
The following persons in a different vehicle suffered injuries: Ubale Yahuza, Rabiu Ibrahim, Umar Musa, Saude Yusuf, Mohammed Aminu, and Kadima Mercy
Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the report and prayed for the repose of the souls of those who perished in the crash, while sending his condolences to their families. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
