Ondo election must reflect people’s will – US tells INEC, security agencies

The United States has demanded the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.

The US Embassy in Nigeria made the call in a statement on Tuesday.

The mission urged all stakeholders to continue to work toward free, fair and transparent. elections.

America reiterated its hope that all participants in the democratic process, including the INEC, political parties, and the security services, will take concrete steps to ensure a peaceful election “that reflects the will of the people of Ondo”.

The United States said it remained committed to the U.S.-Nigeria partnership.

The statement said America would continue to work with Nigeria to achieve mutual goals of peace and prosperity for the citizens of both countries.

The major candidates are Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (All Progressives Congress), Deputy Governor Ajayi Agboola (Zenith Labour Party), and Rotimi Jegede (People’s Democratic Party).
