Tragedy struck in Ikotun area of Lagos after a man engaged the services of a deserted soldier to assist him to discipline his stubborn son and the soldier murdered his son in the process.
The incident happened at Liasu Road, Egbe area of Lagos, where they reside.
Both the father identified as Animasaun and the soldier, Felix, have been arrested by Police operatives from Ikotun Division led by CSP Adagba Johnson and transferred to SCIID, Panti, Yaba for murder.
The corpse of the victim identified as Deji has been deposited at the Isolo General hospital for autopsy report as the suspects were said to be undergoing interrogation over the ugly incident.
According to the residents, the father of the victim was not happy with the lifestyle of the deceased, who was said to be indulging in criminal activities and thereby bringing shame to the family.
The father was said to have contacted Felix and complained about the wayward life of Deji and requested for assistance in order to discipline him to change.
However, the whole thing ended on a sad note when Felix confronted Deji and attempted to discipline him as requested by his father; Deji resisted and even attempted to overpower Felix, who then brought out a knife, stabbed him and he bled profusely.
Having realised that he had inflicted serious injury on Deji, the soldier, Felix rushed and hired a tricycle and took him to an undisclosed hospital. But before he got to the hospital, he was already dead as doctors merely certified him dead.
Following, the death of Deji, the residents mobilised to attack the soldier before the hospital management contacted the Police, who moved in, rescued Felix and detained him at the station.
It was gathered that Police preliminary investigation found Felix and Deji’s father culpable and subsequently they were transferred to SCIID for further investigation.
The suspects risk life imprisonment if they stand trial for murder and are found guilty before the Court.
The DPO could not be reached for comments when P.M.EXPRESS reporter went to the Police Station as he was said to have gone out for routine monitoring in the area.
However, the incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who said that the matter is still under investigation at SCIID, Panti, Yaba.
