The Plateau State government has disclosed that three Chinese and 43 other persons have so far been kept in isolation in Wase Local Government Area of the state following the the Asian nationals into the state over the weekend.
The persons are to stay in doors until the 14 days incubation period to acertained if they have the virus or not beginning from February 28.
The State Commissioner of Health Dr. Nimkong Ndam stated this Sunday during a press conference held at the conference hall of the ministry at the Joseph Gomwalk State Secretariat in Jos the Plateau State capital.
He said as part of efforts so far made in respect to the arrival of the Chinese nationals in Plateau State, a total of 43 persons in the state have been kept in isolation.
“The head of the Chinese team in Wase with 24 Nigerians working with them and also living in the same compound were told not to move out and nobody would be allowed in until March 10.
“We have closed also the water source which the the Chinese team leaders provided as part of his social services to the host community and locals often fetched from it,” he said.
The Commissioner added that the remaining Chinese nationals, who came through the Yakubu Gowon Airport on February 26 and proceeded to Bakin-Kaya village of Wase LGA in Plateau State were also kept in isolation alongside the 15 locals working with them at the mining site.
Dr. Ndam assured citizens that they have reactivated their health emergency centres in the state at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) Lamingo and that of Plateau Specialist Hospital respectively.
