Lawan Andimi: CAN Declares 21st January As National Prayer Day For Persecuted Nigerian Christians

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared 21 January of every year as the CAN National Day of Prayers for the persecuted Christians in Nigeria.

According to a press release by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant (Media &Communications) to the CAN President, His Eminence, Rev Dr Samson Ayokunle, the date is taken in honour of the late CAN Chairman in Michika Local Government of Adamawa State, Rev Lawan Andimi, and other victims of terror and herdsmen attacks.

January 21, 2020, was the day Rev Andimi was killed by the Boko Haram terrorists after his refusal to convert to Islam as demanded by his captors, hence, it was a day chosen in his honour.

The resolution, according to the CAN President, His Eminence, Rev Dr Samson Ayokunle, became imperative in honour of all the Christians who have being killed by the Boko Haram terrorists, Fulani herdsmen killers, and the bandits nationwide.
