A Cross River indigene living in Edo State, Mr Friday Moses is in police custody after he impregnated his 13-year-old daughter he had been sleeping with for six years.
The 35-year-old suspect was one of 76 suspects paraded by the Edo State Commissioner, Johnson Kokumo at the police command headquarters, Benin on Wednesday for various crimes including armed robbery, cultism, rape, kidnapping and others, Vanguard reported.
Moses was said to have been driven away from Ologbo community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area after community members discovered that he was having carnal knowledge of his daughter.
His case was later reported to the police, who promptly arrested him.
Speaking with newsmen, the daughter, who is five months pregnant, said, “My father slept with me five times. He started when I was very small. He started by touching my waist. When I said no, he said if I shout he will use cutlass to kill me.”
But the suspect denied sleeping with his daughter.
He disclosed that his wife died five years ago and he tried dating another woman afterwards.
Moses said he had to leave the woman as he was beaten up by community people who accused him of dating a married woman.
He said, “I have a girlfriend. But when people came to my house and beat me up, claiming I was going out with a married woman, I abandoned her.
“My wife died five year ago and my daughter is 13 years. I did not impregnate her, but take it the way she said it.”
