While the dust over the resignation of Nigeria’s immediate past finance minister Kemi Adeosun is yet to settle, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has said on Monday that it had suspended investigations into the use of a fake NYSC exception certificate by the former finance minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.
This news comes in tandem with that of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that it had also concluded its investigations into the scandal and forwarded its findings to its supervising ministry; the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
Spokesperson for the ICPC, Mrs. Rasheedat Okoduwa had informed the Punch newspapers that the agency suspended its investigation into the matter so it would avoid the error of duplicating the efforts of other agencies investigating the same matter.

The NYSC had announced its own investigations back in July, two months before the resignation of Kemi Adeosun, but it never made its findings public.
Instead, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, on Monday, said the NYSC had forwarded its own investigation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for any further action.
The travails had begun for Kemi Adeosun when it was alleged back in July of 2018 that she did not participate in the mandatory one-year of National Youth Service, but allegedly forged an Exemption Certificate several years after she had graduated.
Kemi Adeosun had thereafter come under intense fire from the Nigerian public especially the opposition and certain civil society groups who called for her resignation as well as her arrest and prosecution for contravening a major Nigerian law.
In her resignation letter to the President, Mrs. Adeosun had admitted that the NYSC exemption certificate she presented was not genuine.
She however left the country upon her resignation to the disappointment of the people who had called for her head on a platter.
