The Senate on Wednesday refused to confirm Ibrahim Magu as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The decision was taken after the grilling of Magu by the senators for almost two hours.
During the grilling, Magu answered several questions, including that on the report of the Department of State Services, which indicted him on several fronts.
Just on Tuesday, the DSS sent another report that further indicted Magu.
He was described in the report as lacking integrity.
Meanwhile, Magu, on Wednesday questioned the integrity of the Department of State Services.
Magu said this during his screening by senators for confirmation as the substantive chairman of the EFCC.
The DSS had submitted two reports on Magu in 24 hours.
One of the reports indicted Magu of several wrongdoings, while the other exonerated him.
Another one was submitted again on Tuesday, describing Magu as lacking in integrity.
Responding to the question of the senators on the reports, Magu said for the DSS to have submitted two different reports on him in 24 hours shows the calibre of the Service.
He said: “What does it mean if an institution submits two reports on the same day?
“That tells you the integrity of the institution.”
