After weeks of speculations, six members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defected members are: Hon. Fatai Oluwa, (Ajeromi Ifelodun I constituency), Hon. Dayo Famakinwa (Ajeromi Ifelodun II), Hon. Mosunmola Sangodara (Surulere II),Hon. Hakeem Shokunle (Oshodi-Isolo I) and Hon. Jude Idimogwu (Oshodi-Isolo II).
Their letter of defection was read on the floor of the House during plenary by the Acting clerk, Azeez Sanni.
The letter which was jointly signed by the defected members who sighted division in the leadership of the PDP as the reason for their defection to the APC.
Also the members said the leadership quality in Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the Speaker of the House, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa neccesitated their actions.
Similarly, the minority leader of the House, Hon. Hakeem Bello (Amuwo-Odofin) also annouced his defection to the APC during today’s sitting, increasing the number of defection to six.
In the letter signed by the defectors, the members said they cannot serve two masters at the same time.
The members who confirmed to jointly signed the defection letter took turn to addressed the House.
According to one of them, Hon. Oluwa: “The division in my party between the Markafi and Sheriff on one hand and the leadership style of the Speaker and Governor Ambode being unbiased in the distribution of dividend of democracy to my constituency inform my decision to decamp to the APC.”
