Security has been beefed up in Ondo state ahead of the Nov. 26 governorship election.
A visit to some areas in the state on Thursday revealed armed personnel from the Nigeria Police and the Nigerian Army stationed at strategic places.
No fewer than 26,000 police officers were deplored to the state by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris for the election.
DSP Oluwole Ojo, the Divisional Police Officer in Okitipupa, disclosed that security agencies were fully prepared for the election.
He said that the presence of the security agencies was to protect lives and properties before, during and after the elections.
“We are fully prepared for the election, we want to guide against any break down of laws and order. There is no cause for alarm, we are poised to protect lives and properties during the election,’’ he said.
