Governor Ajimobi Should Pay Our Parents – Student Leader Pleads

The newly elected President of Federation of Oyo State Students Union, University of Abuja Chapter, Adebimpe Peter Babatunde has appealed to the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi to ensure all outstanding wages of workers in the state are paid.

Adebimpe who was elected on August 3rd 2016, succeeded Comrade Badmus Abdulgafar Dolapo, made the call in a press statement issued on Monday 3rd of October in Abuja  where he reminds the state government that “Oyo State should always be a pace setter”.
The student leader acknowledges the efforts of the governor over the  years in putting Oyo State  back on track, most especially with the recent policy of creating Local Council Development Areas aimed at  bringing government closer to the people at the grassroots.
But he noted that the best of the Governor was yet to come in some other areas especially, in the area of payment of pensioners and workers in the state.

“Governor Ajimobi should make payment of workers salary as one of the cardinal agenda of his government.  Our parents are suffering, the government should not do as if all is well in the state, we suffer in our various schools as students from Oyo State because our parents have no money to cater for our needs in schools, and government should please address this issue of nonpayment of salary as a matter of urgency”.

According to him, “we have several cases of self withdrawal from higher institutions because of inability to meet up with the financial obligations required in higher institutions. This is not good enough for the state that is noted for playing leading roles in the nation”.
“Oyo state as we all know is a pace setter, we make good records not bad records for other states to emulate, we appeal to the governor to sustain the good names of the state right from the days of the late sage, Papa Obafemi Awolowo.”

Adebimpe urges the state governors to look inward with a view to increasing their internally generated revenue instead of total dependence on the monthly sharing of the revenue collected by the Federal government,
“The era of banking on the monthly sharing of money from the Federation Account is no longer visible due to the collapsing of the crude oil prices in the international market. This is a challenge to all governors who wanted to justify the mandate given to him by the voters.”
