A group under the aegis of CONCERNED NIGER DELTA PEOPLE has called on President Buhari to appoint ex-President Goodluck Jonathan as the Federal Government’s special envoy to the Niger Delta.
The National Coordinator of the group, Eperemor Governor, said Goodluck’s appointment will help reduce the tension in the region.
Governor also said the restiveness in the area can be resolved by the ex President, because he has served as a Governor in the Niger Delta region.
He made this call on Thursday, June 2, 2016, while asking members of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to dialogue with the Federal Government.
Meanwhile, another militant group known as the Joint niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF) has emerged.
JNDLF has threatened to release six missiles on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in an operation which they say will shock the world.
The group also ordered the Nigerian Army to withdraw its troops from the Niger Delta region.
Eight people have also been killed after suspected militants reportedly ambushed some soldiers in Delta state.
