FIFA have announced that Markus Kattner has been relieved of his duties as acting General Secretary with immediate effect.
The 45-year-old has been given his marching orders for financial breaches, as was also the case with the man that he replaced – Jerome Valcke.
“Kattner has been dismissed from his position effective immediately,” read a statement from the world’s governing body.
“FIFA’s internal investigation uncovered breaches of his fiduciary responsibilities in connection with his employment.”
Fatma Samoura has since been named as Kattner’s successor.
