CCT Chairman, Umar Throws Saraki’s Lawyer Out

Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Justice Danladi Umar, today, April 21, 2016, asked security officials to throw out Raphael Oluyede, who is one of the lawyers representing Senate President, Bukola Saraki in his corruption trial.

Justice Umar reportedly gave the order after Oluyede insisted on presenting a motion seeking the CCT chairman’s withdrawal from the case.

“This motion filed by a mere busybody legal practitioner is not accepted by this tribunal. Members of the inner bar, you are to guide him. How can you allow such a rubbish thing from him?” Umar said.

“This motion is of no consequence. As far as this tribunal is concerned is thrown away,” he added.

Oluyede is then said to have argued with Umar and refused to sit down leading to the order for him to be thrown out of the court.

The lawyer reportedly sat down upon the arrival of the security officials but still insisted that he would not be intimidated.

Saraki has also urged the CCT Chairman to withdraw from the case after accusing him of bias.
