It was a sad end for a 33-year-old man, Edet Ebong, after he was stabbed to death by his 24-year-old lover, Blessing Edet, for allegedly cheating on her in Lagos State, western Nigeria.
The incident happened at Ebong’s house located at Falana Street, Ogombo in Lekki area of Lagos.
Both Edet and Ebong are from Akwa Ibom State in southern Nigeria. After she allegedly stabbed her lover in the stomach, she fled until she was trailed and arrested by the police at State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
Trouble started after Blessing confronted Ebong over alleged infidelity and he ignored her and refused to offer any explanation.
In anger, Blessing got a knife and allegedly stabbed Ebong.
After her arrest and interrogation, she was charged to court with murder under the Criminal Code.
Her plead was not taken. Rather, the presiding magistrate, Mrs N. A. Layeni ordered her to be remanded in prison custody.
The court also ordered the prosecutor to duplicate her case file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 4 April for the report of the DPP.
