In continuation of its investigation of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison Madueke, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Thursday in Lagos, arrested a businessman, who is suspected to be the ex-minister’s cousin, Mr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo.
Highly placed sources at the Commission, said Amamgbo, who is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Mezcor oil and Gas limited, Tridax Oil and Gas Limited, Lynear Energy Limited and Bulk Strategic Reserved Limited, was arrested at about 4.20pm.
According to one of the sources, who spoke in condition of anonymity Thursday night: He (Amamgbo) is believed to be Diezani’s front, who (allegedly) got approval to lift Nigerian crude oil without any requisite experience. Through his companies, Amamgbo lifted crude oil and gas worth billions of dollars over a period of four years.
“A search conducted in the office and premises of Mezcor Oil and Gas Limited at No. 5 Sannar Street, Wuse 2, Abuja yielded documents which included payments for the purchase of houses and vehicles,” the source noted.
Another source hinted that investigation will continue.
