The Supreme Court on Wednesday declared all the lawmakers representing Anambra State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the National Assembly as validly elected.
Among those affected by the judgement are Senators Andy Uba and Stella Oduah. Also covered by the judgement are the members of the House of Representatives. The ruling of the apex court followed the request for an interpretation of the court’s judgement on the authentic leadership of the PDP in Anambra State.
Based on an earlier verdict of the court pronouncing one of the factions as authentic, there had been agitations for the sacking of Uba, Oduah and others from the National Assembly for belonging to the faction that was pronounced illegal.
The Supreme Court however said on Wednesday that its ruling had nothing to do with the validity or otherwise of the federal legislators.
It said the issue had been settled by the Elections Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
