A 35-year-old woman, Aminat Shehu, and her four children, three girls and a boy, were murdered in their home in Bayan Kara area of Birnin Kebbi on Sunday night. The victims included threeyear- old twins. The murderers, however, spared the life of the woman’s three-month-old baby. The victims’ bodies were discovered yesterday morning.
It was learnt that the woman’s husband, former state Chairman of Marketers’ Association, Birnin-Kebbi chapter, Alhaji Ibrhaim Dandare, was on a business trip to Kano at the time of the incident. Dandare’s younger brother, Ibrhaim Shehu, who bemoaned the tragic incident, said he too was not around. He said: “When I returned home nobody opened the gate for me I have to jump over the fence.
I later saw the bodies of five of them. They had been slaughtered.” Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who visited the house, expressed disgust over the incident, which he described as a tragic. While praying God to forgive the victims, the governor thanked the security experts for their swift response and also directed them not to relent until they get the perpetrators of the crime.
Also speaking with journalists while confirming the incident shortly after an assessment tour of the house, the state Commissioner of Police, Jibril Yakubu, expressed dismay over the nature of the deaths. He assured the relations that all the security agencies would join hands together to ensure the culprits are fished out and brought to book. Yakubu said those murdered were Aminat Shehu (35), Aisha Rabiu (17) and Nafiate Rabiu (12) as well as the three-yearold the twins.
