A truck with registration number Lagos BDG 544 XL conveying iron rods Thursday morning crashed at the outer axis of CMS bus stop, blocked the expressway and caused traffic gridlock stretching up to Eko bridge and its environs.
The accident, according to sources, occurred at about 2 a.m. this morning
Though no was life lost in the accident according to eyewitnesses, part of the truck and a portion of the barrier at CMS bus stop were badly damaged.
The cause of the accident could not be ascertained, but eyewitnesses claim either the driver over-sped or slept off.
According to a driver at CMS bus stop, Anthony Okechukwu who claimed he slept inside his bus in the area to enable him load passengers the following morning, “the heavy bang from the accident like the sound of a bomb blast woke me up from my bus.
“From the way the accident occurred, it is either the driver of the trailer lost control due to overspeeding or he slept off on the steering because there was no vehicle on the road at the time the accident occured.
“We should thank God that the accident did not occur in the day time, and I am appealing to my coleagues to learn from the accident and stop loading passengers along the CMS expressway to avoid accident in the area.”
