Two middle-aged men, Korede Ayofe and Jimoh Bello, are now in police custody in Osun State for allegedly being in possession of a human head.
The suspects, said to be undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), are now telling the police how they came about the human head.
Ayofe and Bello allegedly committed crime at Iwo in Iwo Local Government Area of the state at the weekend.
The men were said to be armed with a sharp knife, a hoe and a motorcycle when they were intercepted by the police patrol team, who acted on a tip-off.
The suspects were reportedly running away before they were apprehended by the police at Owoyo area of the town.
Sources said the head found in their possession was already decomposing as bad odour oozed out of the container in their hands.
In a related development, a middle-aged woman, Aminat Kazeem, who allegedly has a mental illness, was reportedly burnt to death in an uncompleted building where she used to reside at Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
Sources said the police, who were at the site of the razed building, discovered her body. The state Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Folasade Odoro, confirmed the two stories.
