Jubilation in Port Harcourt as Supreme Court upholds Wike’s mandate

Wild celebrations have broken out in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, following the Supreme Court judgement that upheld the election in of Nyesom Wike as governor of Rivers state. There has been sporadic booms of crackers and knockouts as well.

The celebration curiously as early as 2:00 p.m. on the streets of Port Harcourt, even before the verdict.

The Supreme Court delivered it judgment in favour Governor Nyesom Wike and dismissed the case of the APC governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside.

Drinking joints are experiencing unprecedented patronages.

Security has meanwhile been beefed up at major road junctions to curtail excesses of supporters of both PDP and APC in the state capital.

In his first reaction Emma Okah, a lawyer and Commissioner for Housing said on his Facebook post : Wike and PDP won at the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Federal might failed. Pride of APC failed. Supreme Court feared God”.

In his reaction,Ken Atswete, ,a Port Harcourt based human rights lawyer in his reaction said:”The Apex Court has spoken and that is the law.The law is final!”
