The Enugu State Police Command has paraded an alleged money ritualist who was caught trying to move a human head from Enugu to Abakaliki in Ebonyi State for alleged money ritual.
The suspect, John Igwe, a native of Offiom in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was caught with a decomposing human head concealed in a black nylon bag by policemen on ‘stop and search’ mission.
Igwe was caught alongside three other persons, who were accompanying him on the journey, including a native doctor identified as Ifeanyi Nwanguji.
While admitting that he wanted to use the human head, which he cut off from a corpse exhumed from a burial site in Emene area of Enugu, for money ritual, he denied killing the owner of the head.
He said he was pushed into the act by the years of hardship he had had to endure in the course of his life.
“A friend took me to a native doctor in Abakiliki and I was asked to go and bring human head. I was going there with the human head when I was arrested.
“I got it (human head) at the cemetery; I did not kill anybody. It is for money ritual; I have suffered so much in life,” he said.
However, Igwe appealed for clemency, stating that he should be forgiven because he was a first-time offender.
