Embattled spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olisah Metuh on Tuesday tore up his written statement while in detention at the Abuja head office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Daily Trust gathered.
Metuh is being detained by the anti-graft agency over alleged involvement in the ongoing $2.1 billion arms-deal scam in the Office of the National Security Adviser.
According to sources, Metuh, angry over his prolonged detention snatched the document when an operative of the EFCC brought the statement to him for his signature.
The same statement which was said to have been voluntarily made by him shortly after his arrest, was torn to pieces by an angry Metuh.
The EFCC source added that the commission is considering filing separate obstruction of investigation charges against Metuh as tearing the statement is an offense likened to destruction of government property.
Another offense that may be leveled against him is that fact that he obstructed an operative in the line of duty, the EFCC source said.
