A paramedic has landed in hospital after he was beaten by a man, who was angry that he was unable to save his wife.
The paramedic of Sichuan, China, was tried desperately to save the life of a patient on Sunday morning but couldn’t and he got brutally assaulted by her husband.
The assailant was angry because he believed that it took too long for the emergency workers to arrive, which resulted in the death of his 40-year-old wife.
Investigators have said the 28-year-old paramedic, identified as Wu Jianqiang, received the call at 12:57 a.m. He along with a nurse arrived at the patient’s residence by 1:06 a.m.
Jianqiang performed CPR on the elderly woman, but she showed no signs of life. When he pronounced the woman dead, her family became violent and attacked him.
One man grabbed Jianqiang by the neck. He managed to escape. The family chased after him and allegedly threatened to cut off his hands.
Wu fell while running, which gave the other family members time to catch up to him and they beat him while he lied helpless on the ground.
Jianqiang was taken to the Deyang People’s Hospital, where he is being treated for broken bones.
Police have arrested the dead woman’s husband identified as Hu, and a neighbor identified as Shi. However the assailant was released so he can make burial arrangements for his wife after which he and his neighbor will face assault charges.
