“I think that’s really bad”
Smoking cigarettes wasn’t a sustainable lifestyle choice for the woman who is currently one of the world’s most popular singers.
In a new interview with British newspaper The Daily Mirror,Adele revealed that she quit smoking because she was worried about the consequences.
“If I’d carried on smoking, I’d probably have died from a smoking-related illness, and I think that’s really bad,” she said.
The “Hello” singer, 27, added, “If I was dying from lung cancer, I would have potentially given it to myself, and that wouldn’t be something I’d be proud of.”
Adele said she smoked an average of 25 cigarettes a day and, as a result, lost her voice and was forced to cancel shows in 2011. After undergoing an operation, doctors said her career would soon be over if she didn’t quit smoking.
The record-shattering artist also recently spoke to Rolling Stone about working toward improving her health – which included quitting smoking so she can be there for 3-year-old son Angelo James.
“I absolutely loved it, but it’s not that f—ing cool when I’m dying from a smoking-related illness and my kid is, like, devastated,” she said.
