Stock Market Continues Rebound With 0.73%

The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange started the week with a 0.73% (202 points) gain, as investors confidence slowly returns to the market. The rebound started with a 0.26% gain on Friday.

The local bourse ended the day at 27,631.05 points, while Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N9.5 Trillion.

A total of 2,434 deals were struck today, an increase from 2,317 deals recorded on Friday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor today were 127,819,469 and the total value of transactions recorded today was N2.4 Billion.

DANGCEM led the gainers chart adding N10.1 to close at N171.15 followed by GUINNESS and PRESCO which added N1.13 and N0.3 close at N123.15 and N32.5 respectively; FLOURMILL and UNILEVER added N0.2 and N0.18 to close at N19.3 and N42 respectively.

The losers chart was led by NESTLE who lost N15 to close with a share price of N810 followed by NB and UACN who lost N3.5 and N1.28 to close with share prices of N115.5 and N24.33 respectively; ZENITHBANK and INTBREW lost N0.76 and N0.55 to close with share prices of N15.29 and N15.11 respectively.

The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were GUARANTY with shares valued at N518 Million, ACCESS with shares valued at N55 Million, ETI with shares valued at N156 Million, ZENITHBANK with shares valued at N135 Million and TRANSCORP with shares valued at N11 Million.

The market breadth close negative as 16 Gainers led DANGCEM by and 30 losers led by NESTLE.

The market year to date is 19.69%.
