Adele Breaks U.S Album Sales Record

Multiple award winning soulful diva, Adele has broken the single-week U.S. album sales record.

According to music sales tracking company, Nielsen, the highly anticipated album, which the singer withheld from music streaming services has sold at least 2,433,000 copies in more than three days.

After processing the first sales reports from Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, the album has already sold at least 2,433,000 in pure album sale. That sum beats the single-week record for an album since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991, set by ‘NSYNC’s ‘No Strings Attached’, when it debuted with 2,416,000 in the week ending March 26, 2000.

Nielsen Music began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. Prior to 1991, there was no authoritative music sales tracking service in the U.S. and thus, it was mostly unknown how many copies of an album or song/single were sold in a single week.

‘25’ was released on Nov. 20 through XL/Columbia Records. With the sales tracking set to close today, Thursday, Nov. 26, the sales figure for ‘25’ is expected to grow larger. This is a lesson on how to be successfully careerwise by allowing your music alone to do the talking. Adele has spoken that she turned down many endorsements to be able to focus on her music and record songs that speak reality and originality. Kudos to the song bird.

Meanwhile Adele is to embark on a UK and European arena tour next year- her first tour in five years.
