President Muhammadu Buhari has removed Ibrahim Lamorde as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He is to be replaced by Ibrahim Magu, a top level official of the Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC. Magu is remembered as a no-nonsense investigator of the commission at its inception.
No reason was given for the sack but Lamorde met with Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja on Monday, in what is believed to have been his last meeting with the president as head of the anti-graft agency.
