There has been palpable anxiety in Jalingo the Taraba state capital and it’s environs as the state’s governorship election tribunal seating in Abuja is expected to deliver judgment on the petition filed by APC gubernatorial candidate Sen. Aisha Arhasan against the winner of the election and PDP candidate Darius Ishaku.
The state governorship election tribunal was moved to Abuja shortly after inauguration on security ground.
Information at our disposal reveal that there is high level of security including Army and police deployed to major streets of Jalingo, Wukari, Takum Zing and other towns of the state.
The deployment of the security personals was not unconnected to the judgment of the state governorship election as learnt by Vanguard.
Although people were still going about their normal businesses but many particularly traders in Jalingo closed their shops in respect of the outcome of the judgment.
High profile politicians in Jalingo were also spotted in groups seating under sheds and trees with their radios in a bid to hear the judgement.
The police public relation officer Taraba police command ASP Joseph Kwaji in his telephone with Vanguard stated that the police deployed men to calm the state in case there was any out break of peace.
He denied any plan by any group to course trouble in connection to the judgment.
