The Pension Transitional Arrangements Directorate (PTAD) has commenced the verification and biometric data capturing of no fewer than 3,800 federal civil service pensioners in Kaduna.
The exercise, which is aimed at identifying ghost pensioners and capture data of authentic civil service pensioners, commenced on the November 2, 2015 and is expected to end on November 12, 2015 in Kaduna, including other North West states.
The verification exercise involves the process of document review, quality assurance (cross-checking of photocopies of relevant documents and sighting of originals) and biometric capturing of pensioners and in some cases Next of Kins (NOKs).
No fewer than 30 biometric capturing machines are being used for the exercise in Kaduna centre which is holding at the Kaduna police officers mess.
Mr Anthony Makama, one of the pensioners, who expressed satisfaction with the exercise, said he retired in 1996 and was receiving his pension from the time until it was stopped in 2010.
According to him, life has not been easy since his pension was stopped.
“I am happy with the exercise, because with this exercise now I am sure that my pension will be paid at the end of the exercise,” added.
