Group seeks Ooni-elect’s prosecution by EFCC

A human rights group known as the Centre for Human Eights and Social Justice has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to prosecute the Ooni-elect, Prince Adeyeye Ogunwusi, based on the allegations of forgery.
The Chairman of CHRSJ, Mr. Adeniyi Sulaiman, who said this in a letter written to the Chairman of the EFCC said the allegations were weighty and they ought to be thoroughly investigated.
A copy of the letter  which was given to President Muhammadu Buhari was made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday.
Sulaiman said the allegation of forgery, fraudulent conversion and obtaining of N400 million against Ogunwusi and his company should not be swept under the carpet.
The group threatened to get court injunction to compel the EFCC to prosecute Ogunwusi if the commission failed to begin the prosecution after seven days of receipt of the letter.
The letter read, ” We wish to refer the Honourable Chairman to the contents of   a weighty petition involving various acts of criminality namely forgery, fraudulent conversion and obtaining the sum of N400m by false presence levied against the above named person.
“We also refer the chairman to the EFCC’s letter dated 17th September 2015 to Principal Parter, Olawoyin (Legal Practitioners) and a letter dated 23rd September 2015 from Olawoyin & Olawoyin (Legal Practitioners) to EFCC on the same subject matter.
“In view of the foregoing. We hereby request your commission to prosecute immediately upon the receipt of this letter.”
The group said the anti-graft agency would have prosecuted the person named if he was a commoner.
He said the selective prosecution of alleged offenders would not move the nation forward, saying those with means would always believe they could get away with any crime.
