No fewer than 780 policemen have been ordered transferred out of Lagos State by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.
The Eagle Online learnt on Friday that the transfers are with immediate effect.
It cuts across all cadres of policemen up to the level of Chief Superintendent of Police.
Sources at the Force Headquarters in Abuja told The Eagle Online that the massive transfer, perhaps the highest in one fell swoop in any state, could have been informed by the rising cases of armed robbery in the state.
It was gathered that the policemen will be leaving in batches as those to relieve them arrive.
A source in the Lagos State Police Command told The Eagle Online that the tragedy of the massive movement is that several cases will be left hanging.
Such cases will include those undergoing investigation, trial in court and also impact negatively on intelligence gathering.
