The Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari may be at the Abuja National Stadium to watch the Super Eagles of Nigeria play against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Eagles will be playing the second leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against Ghana at the Moshood Abiola National (MKO) Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, 29th March after their first leg clash on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, Naija News reports.

Dare revealed on Wednesday President Buhari may decide to watch the Abuja game live based on his discussions with him when they met in Lagos on Tuesday.

Speaking with NFF TV, the Minister noted that though the President’s presence is not 100% certain, there is a probability.

He said: “I was in Lagos yesterday (Tuesday) and the President [Muhammadu Buhari] asked me why I was not in Ghana and I realized that the President also knows that there is a Ghana match.

He has not given me 100 percent assurance, but he is likely going to show up here (second leg) on the 29th as a surprise.”

He added, “So I wish you the best, all I can do is pray and support you. I had to give you a good pitch here. I am glad they (players) liked it.”

Meanwhile, a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has charged Presidential Muhammadu Buhari not to call the Super Eagles ahead of their World Cup play off match against Ghana.

Omokri in his plea said the President should rather reach out to the Black Stars of Ghana instead of the Super Eagles.

The political activist in a post on his Twitter account urged President Buhari not to contact the Nigerian National team whether through video or audio call.
